but what if I F.A.I.L.? Yada, Yada, Yada

Going deeper into Y.O.L.O.

In Thursday’s post, I first talked about “don’t just be, do”. Don’t just get swept along in the currents in the ocean of life. Don’t let your past shape your today and future. A lot of our hang-ups as humans stem from what happened to us when we were children. How many of us are carrying around the self-doubt, self-loathing even the self-hatred that we inflicted on ourselves during childhood? This was me for the longest time. I felt I didn’t deserve the dreams/fantasies I had about my life for a long time. It’s easy to get stuck in the past, to live there. We blame the past-and others-for where we are in life AT THIS POINT! We do the “poor ole me, woe is me” so often it’s engrained in our head. There is ONLY one person who can make you feel good or bad, happy, sad, fulfilled, discontentment.

Dreams are okay. Everybody should have them. As the quote by Carl Sandburg says: “Nothing happens unless first a dream.” To achieve something means we have first dreamed about it. BUT, and it’s a really big BUT!- we have to act on our dream. It’s going to take blood, sweat and tears, sometimes literally, But always figuratively! You will have to make a sacrifice to achieve it. I don’t know what that sacrifice will be for you, only you can decide that and how much time, effort, money, direction you want to put into it. Whatever we put into something is equal in proportion to what we get out of it. BUT, If you’re goig to do it, do it! As my dad would say, “Don’t half-ass it. Shit or get off the pot”.

You say, “I might fail”. Dad would tell me, “YOU never fail UNTIL YOU stop trying”.

Means First Attempt In Learning. You just haven’t found the right way to succeed yet. How many times are authors rejected before their first book or story is published? How many times did Colonel Sanders try to sell his fried chicken recipe? Michael Jordan was not a good basketball player in High School, but he never quit trying. “It’s all a matter of luck, circumstances, breeding, where I grew up, my parents didn’t love me, my parents loved me too much. I’m not good enough, smart enough, handsome, good looking, bad things ALWAYS happen to me, good things happen to me…..yada yada yada. When are you going to quit making excuses? When are you going to take charge of your life? Control of your life? I don’t know you, BUT I believe in you! Is there not one person, just one who has added some inspiration to you, loved you. Believed in you? Told you that you matter? That you are worth it? If that’s never happened for you, go to an open 12-step meeting. They will love and support you until you are able to love and support yourself. AND THEN THE MIRACLE HAPPENS! They will keep on loving you and supporting you. AND 12-step programs exist for a myriad of things.

Fact of life: You will NOT accomplish everything you want to do. There will always be that next hill to go over, the next forest to cut down, the next river to cross. You will never be 100% ready to start. Let me say that again, You will NEVER be 100% ready to start. A prime example of this for me was starting this blog. I thought I had to have the "perfect" title, the "perfect" layout, the "perfect" logo, the "perfect"......yada yada yada. I WAS PROCRASTINATING! Been there, done that! Shit or get off the pot.

MORE TO COME....
